Kicks on Cards: The Weekly Collection

words // Zack Schlemmer

The Kicks on Cards Weekly Collection kicks off with today's birthday boy Bonzi Wells spotted in the Air Jordan VIII Black/Chrome.  Bonzi was apparently a big fan of the AJ8 as he wore them often on the court with the Blazers and Grizzlies around the time this colorway and the original White/True Red colorway retroed in 2003.

Next up is Grant Hill on a 1996 USA Team card rocking his second FILA signature shoe: the GH2.  The GH2 is often considered the best model in Hill's signature line with FILA.  Seen here from a pre-Olympics photo shoot in a rare navy-soled version, Grant would wear a similar version during the '96 Olympic games with a white midsole and three stars replacing "FILA" at the toe.

A green-haired Dennis Rodman grabbing a rebound is spotted on the next card in the Nike Air Wayup.  Anybody who pays attention to the Kicks on Cards feature should be no stranger the the Air Wayup, as it has been seen on countless players' feet around the 1995-96 NBA season. To many of our delights, the Air Wayup will finally be getting a retro in 2013.  Who else is excited?

We have another Air Jordan Retro this week with Darius Miles in the Air Jordan XI "Space Jam".  Always known to rock some of the freshest J's, it's no surprise to see Darius back in his Clipper days wearing the Space Jams.  We finish this week's collection up with former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Rick Mirer keepin' it casual at a photoshoot in the Nike Air Force Max.

Bonzi Wells -- Air Jordan VIII Retro

Grant Hill -- FILA GH2

Dennis Rodman -- Nike Air Wayup

Darius Miles -- Air Jordan XI Retro

Rick Mirer -- Nike Air Force Max

LeBron James has the best sneakers in this year's Heat vs. Bulls playoff series, but can you guess who had the best in the two teams' 1992 matchup?
