Grant Hill, the second oldest active player in the NBA (a day younger than Kurt Thomas), celebrates his 40th birthday today so this week's Kicks on Cards collection features two cards with sightings of his signature FILA shoes. We actually just saw the FILA GH 2 in last week's collection, so this week sightings of the GH1 and GH3 have been pulled out of the Kicks on Cards archives.
The FILA GH1, Hill's first signature sneaker debuted during his 1994-95 rookie season where he quickly became a superstar in the NBA. After a successful college career at Duke, Hill broke into the NBA as the #3 pick and soon began getting the "next Michael Jordan" tag. FILA was lucky enough to sign Hill and start a successful signature line that led to five models with the young superstar. After the GH1 we see the GH3, the third model and a favorite of many of his signature line.
Next up is Charles Smith, an obscure player drafted by the Miami Heat in 1997 who never amounted to much in the NBA. Although he is forgotten, the shoes he is wearing definitely are not. Charles takes it up hard for a rookie photo shoot in the Air Jordan XII "Playoffs".
We finish up this week's collection with two Nike basketball classics spotting Chris Mullin in the Air Flight 89 and Malik Sealy in a dope colorway of the Nike Air Swift.
Have a favorite shoe this week? Can you believe Grant Hill is still in the NBA? Anybody remember Charles Smith? Discuss in the comments below.
