D'Wayne Edwards was the leading man for the Air Jordan XX1, inspired by the Bentley Continental GT Coupe. The AJ XX1 features a seamless diamond-quilted bootie, Phylon midsole, lower foot air grilles and a carbon fiber shank plate.
The XX1 was also the first Air Jordan to come equipped with interchangeable cushioning elements; tunable IPS allowed wearers to choose between Zoom and Encapsulated Air.
Low-cut and "PE" versions of the XX1 would later be released.
Behind the tagline, "Let Your Game Speak," the commercial for the XX1 featured young athletes recreating signature moments from Michael Jordans career.
Players who laced up the XX1 include Ray Allen, Quentin Richardson, Jared Jeffries, Eddie Jones and Michael's beloved North Carolina Tar Heels.
