In professional wrestling, an era of substantial financial growth and increased pay per view buy rates, TV ratings and attendance is called a "boom period." Back in the 80s, the boom period was known as "Rock 'N Wrestling," headlined by the Mega Powers Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. For a decade, Savage ruled the ring and established himself as one of the most popular wrestlers of all-time. His over-the-top style, Slim Jim commercials, unique voice and "Ohhhhh Yeah" catch phase helped him cross over as a bona-fide mainstream star.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Jordan Brand athletes Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul would have colorways of their new signature shoes made to represent their favorite wrestlers growing up. Shortly after, catalog images surfaced showing us that there would also be a "WWF Pack" of Jordan Aero Flight colorways. Represented wrestlers include Hogan, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, the Legion of Doom and "Macho Man."
Officially set to release next month and available now at Jimmy Jazz, the "Macho Man" Aero Flight is white-based, decked out in vibrant accent colors styled after Savage's flamboyant ring gear. Court Purple and Fireberry work patterns along the side panels, while a volt-like hue fills in the tongue, laces and outsole.
Unfortunately Randy passed away last May, but his spirit continues to live through several generations of fans.
