Before John Wall dropped his first signature sneaker with adidas, the J Wall 1, there was a time when he was the face of Reebok basketball. Under Reebok, Wall had three signature sneakers, before switching over to the Three Stripes last year (Reebok is currently owned and operated by adidas).

There's only a few NBA players that've had signature sneakers with more than one brand, and Wall broke down the difference between working with adidas versus his short tenure at Reebok when he first got into the NBA.

"I think the biggest difference when I came into the situation with Reebok is that they already had their shoes designed, so I didn’t really have any say so," Wall said at an in-store appearance at Foot Locker in New York last night. "At adidas, I didn’t get a shoe right away. I had to work and show my dedication on and off the court. Putting in work and getting better in those situations and sitting down and getting to know the adidas people a lot better."

Wall's first three signatures under Reebok featured the brand's Zig platform, which is now basically a relic in terms of basketball. adidas latest tech push in the sport, Boost, is something that is noticebly absent in the J Wall 1. But, the player isn't rulling it out incorporating adidas Boost in his future models.

"Boost is a great thing that they’re putting into the shoes, but at the time they were already designing my shoe it was already finished before they decided to put it in there," he said.
