From a sneaker standpoint, the highlights of Carmelo Anthony’s early career were his retro Air Jordan PEs. Sure, his signature line began his second season in the league, but his Nuggets colorways of shoes like the Air Jordan 2 and 12 were the ones that had everyone talking. One in particular was a white-based edition of the Air Jordan 2.
What made this particular PE special is that following a strong fan response after seeing the sneaker on court, it actually released – albeit with a small change. On Melo’s pair, as seen below, the “NIKE” logo typically found on the heel of the Air Jordan 2 was replaced with “MELO.” While otherwise identical, the retail version returned to the standard “NIKE” detailing. This small change however didn’t impact the desirability if the model. It sold out immediately, dropping in limited quantities on the same day as the general release Black / Chrome 2s.
