The ‘French Blue’ Air Jordan 12 was initially intended to have a Washington Wizards theme. Original samples of the shoe have a black outsole, and copper accents. However, after MJ played his final game as a Wizard on April 16th, 2003, and was subsequently fired as Washington’s President of Basketball Operations a month later, Wizards-themed Air Jordans came to a quick halt.

The version that did release was a hit regardless, and was the first of five colorways of 12s to drop in 2004. It featured a textured leather upper, and the accents found on the sample were replaced by silver and red on the released edition. While it didn't immediately sell out, this general release didn't stick around on shelves long.
