When the now-defunct Jordan Brand Magazine hit in 2005, it included a picture of Terrell Owens wearing a pair of never-before seen Air Jordan 13s. After initial speculation that they were a PE, it was eventually revealed to be a limited release, which we now know as the Altitude 13s. Unsurprisingly, the shoe sold out immediately. It was one of the harder to get launches of its time, with Footaction being the only chain to receive them, along with select urban accounts.

In 2010, Jordan Brand made a surprise move in bringing the colorway back. Only this time, the upper had been switched up from the leather found on the original, to mesh, similar to the original Black / Varsity Red XIII. Interestingly, while our average selling price references the original edition, both versions of the shoes now have a similar resale value.

Over the years, we’ve also seen Gary Payton in a similar player exclusive colorway, albeit with a different shade of green. Jordan Brand’s 28 Days of Flight collection also yielded a very similar look, with the exception of also having a green lining. Check out the following gallery of both original and retro Altitude 13s, and let us know which version is your favorite.
