New Balance Not Afraid to Charge Top Dollar for Retros

A very fancy release from New Balance.

by Brendan Dunne

When New Balance introduced the New Balance 998 in Horween Leather last year, the sneaker claimed the top spot as the most expensive retro the brand has ever issued with its $400 retail price.

Threatening to be in that same range is this New Balance 996, which again combines Made in USA construction with premium Horween Leather materials. The pricing info for the U.S. release isn't available yet, but Up There Store in Australia has them for $400 AUD, which comes out to $312 USD.

There is no U.S. release date yet for the Horween Leather x New Balance 996, but Sole Collector will have updates.
