Flashback // Michael Jordan in the Air Jordan XIII Black/True Red

With tomorrow's return of the Air Jordan XIII in its "Bred" colorway, we'll Flashback to Michael wearing the originals.

words // Zack Schlemmer

After its original release in 1998 and its first retro in 2004, the Air Jordan XIII Black/True Red (this time Varsity Red) returns again tomorrow on Saturday, January 12.  To celebrate its return, we've compiled another Flashback feature with shots of Michael Jordan on the court in the originals.

MJ wore the "Bred" XIII during the 1998 NBA Playoffs en route to his second three-peat with the Chicago Bulls.  More specifically, he wore them for all road games in the Playoffs (note the red road jersey in all pictures) against the New Jersey Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Indiana Pacers and Utah Jazz until debuting the Air Jordan XIV in the series-clinching final game ("Last Shot").  Tinker Hatfield's panther-inspired design for the Air Jordan XIII will go down as one of the most comfortable and best performing Air Jordans ever and as you can see, they look pretty good, too.
