Flashback // Michael Jordan in the Air Jordan VIII "Playoffs"

words // Zack Schlemmer

In 1993 Michael Jordan was on his way to his third straight NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls.  On his feet for that 1993-94 season were his newest shoes, the Air Jordan VIII.  Featuring velcro cross-straps for a lockdown fit, a large tongue with a prominent Jumpman patch, and unique designs paneling the heel and outsole, the Air Jordan VIII was the boldest Air Jordan design from Tinker Hatfield since the Air Jordan III.

MJ (and Bugs Bunny) would wear the white-based colorway throughout the 93-94 regular season, and also broke out the "Aqua" look for the 1993 All Star game.  When the playoffs started, it was the 'Black-Black-True Red' colorway's time to shine.  Check out at a few classic shots of Michael wearing the Air Jordan VIII "Playoffs", which just returned this past weekend, en route to his third-of-six NBA Championships and first-of-two Three-peats.
