In an interview with ESPN's Darren Rovell earlier today, Li-Ning and Dwyane Wade once again confirmed that they will be announcing their new partnership in China tomorrow.
"This is a great opportunity for me," Wade told Rovell. "I can either choose to stick to the status quo or be a trailblazer."
According to Rovell, though financials are unknown, the deal is worth multi-millions and will last until Wade retires and into his early retirement. Wade will also receive equity in the company, an opportunity that did not exist with companies like Nike or adidas.
Wade also weighed in on ending his working relationship with the Jordan Brand.
"In the end, the pros outweighed the cons," Wade said. "Jordan might have that cool factor, but I'm at a different point in my career. I want to be involved in building something."
Li-Ning Vice General Manager of Basketball Brian Cupps says the brand will first unveil a Wade shoe, followed by an apparel collection. Cupps also prices the shoe around the $130 range.
There will be plenty more to report from China tomorrow. In the meantime, you can read Darren Rovell's article in its entirety now over at ESPN.com.
