Black History Month sneakers have become a highlight of the NBA’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day festivities. Nike officially showed off its signature hoops pack last week, but it was a team model shared by Draymond Green that had people talking on his social media.

"I put those on my Snapchat and it blew up,” Green recalled before yesteday’s drubbing of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was referring to his BHM edition HyperRev 2016s that he took the court in. “I forgot I even put them on there, so I’m looking at messages on my Snapchat like, ‘What are they talkin’ about?’”

While only the signature BHM Nike Basketball models hit retail, Green’s HyperRevs carried the same Pan African-inspired color palette and geometric print as the Nike LeBron 13, KD 8, Kyrie 2 and Kobe 11 editions from the line. But the shoes meant more to Green than just social media attention. “Nike does a great job coming up with sneakers for special days like this. I think that is amazing.”
