Back in October, Dame Lillard introduced us to his upcoming adidas signature shoe, the adidas D Lillard 1. Lillard said he leaked the shoe because he wanted to control the message, adding that he did so on Instagram as a way to thank his followers for their support. That bit of information was reported by Blazers digital reporter Casey Holdahl, who also delivered the latest scoop.
Looking closely at Lillard's new NBA Live '15 'Holiday Skills Challenge' video series, the All-NBA point guard goes one-on-one with Santa Claus is what appears to be a red-based colorway of the D Lillard 1. The cap quality isn't great, but the shoe in question has characteristics similar to the shoe Lillard showed us a few months back.
All-Red is a smart play for adidas, who can appeal to Lillard's Portland fanbase and sneakerheads with the popular colorway. There's no official release date for the Lillard 1 yet, but expect a launch in early 2015.
UPDATE 12/23: A closer look at the D Lillard 1 via @oklai19. While all-red colorways are trendy, adidas connects this pair to the Rose City with a rose-printed inner bootie. Tech includes adiprene cushioning and SprintFrame construction for stability and speed.
