Converse has enjoyed a resurgence among sneaker heads over the past two years, led largely by the well-curated First String program. While the momentum of the line is built mainly on collaborations, First String has also shown its respect for the classics and Converse’s brand heritage, as evidenced by this week’s release of a special 1970s Chuck Taylor All Star.

The First String Standards 1970s Chuck is re-crafted to the specifications used on the sneaker over 30 years ago, with subtle differences including a higher rubber foxing along the midsole, a slightly taller toe box, added contrast stitching on the upper and a vintage “license plate” on the heel. Converse takes things a step further with improved cushioning in the footbed and a strengthened, heavy-grade canvas upper.

The Converse 1970s Chuck Taylor All Star in Black / White will release at First String accounts on Friday, February 15.

I don't get it, what is so different between these and the regular joints, besides branding? Maybe that should've been mentioned in the article? Just a thought...

Improved rubber sole, improved inner sole (cushioned this time around), heavier, better quality canvas.

You're right, though, other articles I've read gave specs and a closer look.
