Colin Kaepernick Throws Out First Pitch in the Air Jordan 1 Retro
words // Brennan Hiro Williams
Colin Kaepernick threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the San Francisco Giants game last night, giving both Bay Area sports fans and sneakerheads yet another reason to root for the 49ers star. Wearing the Air Jordan 1 High Retro "Chicago," Kaepernick delivered an 87-mph dart to Giants closer Sergio Romo, narrowly avoiding sure annihilation for the two photographers behind the dish. While such velocity shouldn't be a surprise, considering Kaepernick is a former prep baseball star and has one of the biggest arms in the NFL, it was quite possibly the fastest ceremonial first pitch in MLB history, clocking in at around 3-mph faster than the average fastball from Mark Buehrle and Barry Zito (and roughly 80-mph faster than the best efforts of Carl Lewis).
