Jason Kidd is in the headlines this week after first signing with the New York Knicks and then promptly crashing his car and picking up a DWI charge after a night of partying. Today we'll look back to earlier, better times with this commercial for Jason Kidd and the Nike Zoom Flight 95.
Yes, that's right, a player featured in a commercial from 1995 is still in the NBA. Seventeen years ago Jason was the posterboy for one of Nike's (still) boldest designs ever with the new Zoom Air technology. The Flight 95 was the first basketball shoe to be labeled with Zoom Air and looked like no basketball shoe before it. With its alien-like "bug eyes" or "pods", and carbon fiber upper, the Zoom Flight 95 was futuristic for its time, and still kind of is now.
