In this week's Classic Commercial we watch as Gary Payton goes head to head with Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield in a battle of quickness vs. strength. With the help of his Zoom GP's Gary is able to evade Evander long enough to simply knock him over with the ball. But the big man comes back with his own pair of GP's and knocks The Glove out cold. Luckily, no ears were harmed in the battle.
Although the Nike Zoom Flight A.K.A. "The Glove" is synonymous with Gary Payton, the Nike Zoom GP was the first shoe to officially bear his name. The Zoom GP released in 1999 and is one of the most iconic models of Nike's Alpha Project. With its asymetrical buckled sheath and five large Alpha Project dots incorporated prominantly into the design, it's definitely one of the most memorable basketball shoes of the late 90's.
