A year after opening its doors, Diamond Bar's BAIT celebrates its first anniversary by linking up with streetwear vets Akomplice and Onitsuka Tiger for a collaborative release.
The collective came together to work on a special make-up of Onitsuka Tiger's Colorado 85, a BAIT favorite. When given the opportunity to collaborate on the shoe, the boutique reached out to Colorado natives Mike and Patrick Liberty of Akomplice. With the help of the brothers, BAIT created a style that pays homage to Colorado and relates to Akomplice's origins.
Braided hiking laces and reinforced ripstop nylon are nods to the famous Rocky Mountains. The red, white, blue and yellow colorway matches Colorado's state flag and represent the state's environmental features. Ski maps have been emblazoned on the insoles and back of the hang tag, which doubles as a lift ticket. The '6,200 FT' name is a reference to the exact elevation of the brothers' hometown of Carbondale.
Tomorrow, BAIT will release a limited run of 504 pairs in-store and online to coincide with its 1-Year Anniversary launch party. Reservations for both releases have already been completed, so enjoy a few shots of pair #103 and good luck grabbing yours tomorrow.
