Asics Creates Sneakers to Please the PETA Crowd

Asics switches up their production process to satisfy the vegan sneakerheads.

by Brendan Dunne

Often sneaker companies or collaborators brag about a heightened focus on material selection, but usually not on a humane level like this.

In what feels like an echo of BAIT's 'Cruel World' Saucony series, some of Asics' inline pairs are now being produced with all-vegan materials. The larger sneaker companies have moved away from using real deal exotic animal skins on the their shoes, but none have gone this far in terms of standing against that particular use of animals (glue compounds and leather are the most likely source of actual animal parts in other pairs). It doesn't appear to have an adverse effect on the quality of the shoes either–all the vegan Asics shown here would blend in perfectly with any other inline releases. Sneaker Politics has each of these vegan-friendly Asics in stock now.
