Air Jordan 6 Kanye West 'In Memory of Donda West' Sample

While the Air Yeezy may be closely associated with his mother's passing, it turns out that another shoe was in the works to pay tribute to her.

You may remember the untimely death of Kanye West's mother, Donda West, in late 2007. And you may remember his Grammy performance of "Hey Mama" shortly thereafter. On top of honoring his mother, the performance is widely remembered for featuring an unreleased colorway of the original Air Yeezy.

But while that shoe may be closely associated with his mother's passing, it turns out that another shoe was in the works to pay tribute to her. According to The Sneaker Addict, this sample pair of Air Jordan 6s were designed in Donda's memory. As evidence, check out the "Donda" stamp on the shoe's insole, seen below. Kanye was known to wear the Air Jordan 6 frequently, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that it could have been the tribute model.

Of course, with Kanye leaving Nike for adidas, this will likely remain a sample, whether it was ever intended to release or not. Would you have liked to see this one come out though?
