The Afew x Koi Klub x Asics Gel Lyte III from 2012 was one of the more ambitious sneaker collaborations ever, employing cobblers to rework the shape of the classic runner.
While a straightforward retro surely isn't in order, it looks like Afew will be using a similar scheme for an upcoming special Asics Gel Lyte III project. The shoe was teased in the Instagram shot below, and the bit of it that's peeking out features a similar red/white/black setup and a different font for the "AFEW" hit on the heel. Here's to hoping this pair is more widely distributed than the previous one, which released only in Afew's native Germany.
Don't be surprised if this upcoming Afew x Asics Gel Lyte III ends up on the limited side, as collabs for the shoe this year have generally had just 1,990 pairs produced.
UPDATE 5/15: The Afew x Asics Gel Lyte III "Koi" will release on May 30 at 8 am in-store at Afew, remaining pairs will be sold online via a secret link. More info is available via Afew's newsletter.
