Fresh off of their Champions League victory, Chelsea Football Club and adidas have unveiled the new away shirt for the 2012-2013 season. The kit blends classic and modern design elements, including an exclusive fading Three-Stripe design on the arm and light aqua detailing on the front reminiscent of traditional kit aesthetic.
The fading Three-Stripes, featuring light aqua, contrast stylishly against the white base to create a jersey that bridges the gap between modern and classic motifs. Light and dark blue shades complement the Chelsea Reflex Blue colorway to include many of the colors associated with the club's recent successes.
Continuing, the theme is reflected in the Collegiate Navy colored Chelsea FC badge, affixed to the jersey and shorts with a white satin stitch. Navy ribbing finishes off the ends of the sleeves, while aqua piping appears around the v-neck collar.
Once again, the playing shirt features adidas TechFit technology, which stabilizes and focuses the muscles' energy to generate explosive acceleration and deliver maximum power output. The result is an increase in speed, endurance and awareness. ClimaCool, a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, has been implemented into the uniform to improve ventilation in key heat zones.
The new away kit will first be worn during Chelsea FC’s pre-season tour to the USA where they will face the MLS Allstars.
An official launch will take place on Thursday, July 5, with a pre-order available online at Chelsea Megastore.
