Since 2006, Dwight Howard has been a member of the USA Basketball program, including a Gold Medal with the "Redeem Team" in the 2008 Olympic Games. Howard is expected to once again be the starting center for Team USA this summer, when they attempt to defend their Olympic Gold at the Summer Games in London.
In between the 2010 FIBA World Championship and 2012 Olympic Games, adidas produced this Team USA version of Dwight Howard's Superbeast signature shoe last summer. The shoe features a white tumbled leather upper with Dark Navy SprintSkin paneling and a red mesh underlayer. Team USA logos appear on the tongues and insoles, while the heel pays tribute to Mama Kay, an avid Orlando Magic and Dwight fan that lost her battle with cancer back in 2010. Completing the look below is a white midsole, navy cushioning windows and a translucent red outsole.
This rare sample was recently auctioned off on eBay. Considering Dwight is between the adiPower Howard 2 and next year's adiPower Howard 3, it's unlikely that he'll wear these in this summer's Olympics.
