With the 2012 Summer Olympic Games heading to London, adidas has launched the first Team Great Britain Originals Collection, combining Olympic Games heritage with iconic 3-Stripes streetwear style. Within the collection are styles that feature a color palette inspired by the kit worn by Team GB in the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, when Team GB was sponsored by adidas for the very first time.
Giving the Fall/Winter 2011 Collection the official Team GB look is a red, white and blue 3-Stripe taping detail that runs throughout the footwear and apparel. Each piece is dual-branded with adidas Originals' iconic Trefoil logo, as well as the Team GB logo.
Three classic footwear styles make up the footwear range, including the Nizza Hi CL adiColor Team GB with its unique heel zip; the Hillsdale adiColor Team GB, which sports a black and white perforated leather look with patent 3-Stripe branding; and the Court Star adiColor Team GB, featuring a jersey 3-Strip and collar execution. Each style boasts red, white and blue 3-Stripe tape on both the interior and exterior, adding subtle and stylish detail to the silhouettes.
The apparel collection consists of seven wardrobe staples, including tees, polos, both stripe and non-stripe hoodies, tops and pants. Each piece focuses on a black and grey marl color palette with UK 3-Stripe detailing offering color pop throughout. The smart polo is available in black with engineered multi-stripe execution, while Firebird and Flock tops come in black and grey with the signature 3-Stripe detail.
Additionally, two more Team GB Originals collection will be launched in 2012. First, a women's specific lineup that will hit retail in January. After that, a range of direct reproductions of archival apparel from the 1984 Team GB kit.
The Fall/ Winter 2011 adidas Originals Team GB footwear collection is available this month, with the apparel collection expected to follow in November. Both collections are available from stockists nationwide and own retail stores throughout the UK.
