Today, adidas officially introduced the adiZero Sonic, a lightweight running shoe with enough support and traction for year-round speed drills and weight training. The shoe was debuted in a new commercial released on Youtube today starring record-setting Baylor quarterback and three-sport high school athlete Robert Griffin III. In the clip, Griffin accelerates quickly through footwork drills and sprints in the adiZero Sonic 3. The commercial premieres on TV
“The first thing that comes to mind when you put on the adizero Sonic is how light it is,” said Griffin III. “It gives you a lot of support so you can run long distances, but you can use it multiple ways. It has support so you can lift in it and stay comfortable during a full day’s workout.”
Partially shot at Baylor's Floyd Casey Stadium where RG3 set or tied more than 50 school records, the commercial looks at how the heavy weight of pressure and heat of the spotlight are shattered by what lightweight adiZero shoes deliver.
“The adizero Sonic 3 was built for the high school athlete with a faster, more aggressive look,” said Mikal Peveto, director of running for adidas America. “This is the ultimate go-fast shoe that runners, football players and baseball players alike will use to break records to get to the next level.”
Peveto continued, “The newest member of the adidas family, RGIII, proved that adizero lightweight shoes are core to a successful training regimen with his explosive start off the line with the fastest 40-yard dash time for a quarterback in half a dozen years and a near flawless Pro Day performance.”
Built for speed and created with maximum durability, the adiZero Sonic 3 features full-length adiPrene+ midsole technology for responsive cushioning with each stride. Seamless SPRINTWEB provides superior support to ensure that your foot stays in place without additional weight. Open-hole mesh and a newly designed upper offers increased breathability and comfort.
