A Complex Sneaker Writer Wrote About Why He Hates Sneaker Blogs

The way the Internet covers sneakers has come a long way since the first online forums popped up in 1999. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of blogs on the web dedicated to release dates, collectors, product reviews, and so on. A writer for one of those blogs felt some type of way about how the culture is getting covered today and wrote an entire exposition about why certain things need to change.

"Everything seems half-assed," wrote Complex's Matt Welty. "It's a race to beat each other to posting stories first, and somewhere along the way, the reasons I got into sneakers and journalism got lost."

He goes on to share his views on the need for sneaker writers who can relate the topics talked about on social media in a more cogent way. "Twitter is consistently full of conversation about sneakers, but rarely are these ideas brought to life," he continued. "There's so much discussion that happens on sneaker forums, such as NikeTalk or Sole Collector, but little of it is put together in a linear, thought-out fashion."
