If an auto-lace version of the Nike MAG is being rumored for a 2015 release, it's only right that there's a hoverboard to match.

While Mattel hasn't made any announcements, California upstart Hendo is delivering the goods. Through Kickstarter, the company is introducing the 'world's first real hoverboard' with one little catch — if created, one will run you $10,000.

That's not to say it's not worth it. 25 years after Back to the Future Part II hit theaters, no company has successfully figured out a way to put a functioning hoverboard into production. Defying gravity costs, and that should be no exception here.

Another drawback is that the board will only work on conductive surfaces like metal sheets. But hey, baby steps. This could very well be a precursor to the real deal.

The projected release date? October 21, 2015, how far into the future Marty McFly went in the movie.

For more on Hendo's hoverboard, visit Kickstarter, where you can pledge as little as $1 to get this project off the ground.
