With chances to own one of the 1,500 pairs of the 2011 Nike MAG dwindling, bidders opened up their wallets again yesterday, spending approximately $511,480 when the ninth round of eBay auctions closed. On average, buyers spent about $3,410 per pair, the most since the third round of auctions closed. The most spent on a single pair of MAGs yesterday was $5,100.
Overall, the nine days of Nike MAG auctions have generated around $5,123,540 in cash donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Pairs are being auctioned off at an average price of $3795. Taking Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin's pledge to match all donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for the remainder of the year into consideration and more than $10.2 million will go toward the fight against Parkinson's Disease.
