3D Printed Sneakers Coming Soon? No, They're Already Here.
words // Zac Dubasik
We've heard for a while now that 3D printing would be an important part of the future of sneakers, but that time may be closer than we realize. Recreus already has a wearable model (their second) that's been made entirely by 3D printer.
The shoe utilizes a material known as FILAFLEX, which, while having resemblence to a known sneaker brand name, is actually the maker of what's "becoming the most elastic filament on the market." Check out the Sneakerbot II first, then the original design at the bottom of the page.
If you happen to have the necessary hardware and materials, you can download and print your own here. Let us know what you think in the comments. How long do you think it will be until we start seeing the leaders in the sneaker world start directly utilizing the technology?
