To dress the latest Air Max 97, Nike took inspiration from another iconic silhouette that debuted the very same year, the Air Foamposite One.

This pair is made to resemble the OG "Royal" colorway of the popular Penny Hardaway model that has become a cult classic since first hitting shelves in 1997. A black mesh upper resembling the inner bootie of the basketball model is covered in tonal overlays. The mud guard is wrapped in a shiny blue leather made to resemble a Foamposite shell.

Other details that make this runner mimic the OG Foams include a carbon fiber section on each side panel, mini Swoosh stitched on the lateral toe area, pull tabs on the tongue and heel, a glossy tongue logo, and icy bottoms.

Check out official photos of the Nike Air Max 97 "Foamposite" below. The pair is expected to release in the coming weeks via nike.com and other select retailers for $180.
