Legendary fashion designer Raf Simons has previewed the latest addition to his ongoing work with Adidas at Paris Fashion Week. Simons newest creation is three pairs of Stan Smiths with Trompe l'oeil graphics.
Each pair uses the French painting style of Trompe l'oeil, which creates an optical illusion to give a 3D look to 2D surfaces, to recreate popular silhouettes from the Adidas archive. The Micropacer, L.A. Trainer, and Torsion Conquest Super are all used as inspiration.
OG color schemes of the three silhouettes have been photographed and 3D modeled over the upper of Raf Simons' Stan Smith design, set apart by the re-positioning of perforations on the side panel to create an "R" instead of the usual Three Stripes. The transposed images of each sneaker even retained certain details like stains, creases, and glue marks to show age.
All three styles will be exclusively pre-launching at Tom Greyhound in Paris today for €280 before receiving a wider launch this April.
