With another summer of uncertainty surrounding his career on the horizon, Derrick Rose is joining rare company as part of the select group of athletes to reach a ninth signature sneaker.
Tech information hasn't officially been revealed, but the Adidas D Rose 9 features a knit build, bootie construction with an extended pull-tab, speed lacing and AdiWear rubber. Boost cushioning appears to be out of the mix and replaced with Bounce, which would likely result in a price reduction from the D Rose 8's $140 tag. This particular colorway, almost Spurs-like, is highlighted by festive, multicolor detailing along the lining and outsole.
Rose debuted the D Rose 9 on-court during the playoffs, but retirement speculation is raising questions about the future of his relationship with Adidas. Rose reportedly signed a 14-year deal worth up to $200 million with the company back in 2012, but injury-plagued seasons have taken a toll on his game and marketability.
Leaked catalog scans indicate that the D Rose 9 will release this July. Keep it locked for pricing and confirmed dates.
