Less than 24 hours after Nike announced the resignation of brand president Trevor Edwards following an investigation of inappropriate workplace behavior, another top-ranking executive has left the company.
According to Wall Street Journal, Nike's vice president and general manager of global categories Jayme Martin has been "forced out of the company" as the investigation continues. Sources tell the outlet that Nike received complaints about Martin, although there have been no direct complaints regarding Edwards.
The article goes on to detail alleged incidents in which Martin and Edwards protected employees who were "demeaning to female colleagues," including bullying of women and foreign co-workers in other departments.
Martin had been with Nike since 1997 and was considered a top lieutenant to Edwards. His previous roles included vice president and general manager of global running, emerging markets, and EMEA footwear.
"Over the past few weeks, we've become aware of reports of behavior occurring within our organization that do not reflect our core values of inclusivity, respect, and empowerment at a time when we are accelerating our transition to the next stage of growth and advancing our culture," Nike CEO and chairman Mark Parker wrote yesterday in a company-wide memo.
