Retro models are nothing new when it comes to signature sneakers—LeBron James' Nike line has been the most recent to return, with one of only two remaining OG colorways of the Air Zoom Generation set to come back for All-Star Weekend. It appears Kobe Bryant's may not be far behind, but there could be a twist.

Earlier today, Bryant teased a pair of Zoom Kobe 1s on Instagram, alluding to possibility that they're not only coming back, but being improved upon. Around the same time, Bryant also sent a tweet asking the meaning of the word "Protro." Based on the heavily calculated ethos that Bryant typically adheres to, chances are that these two posts weren't a coincidence.

What does the word “Protro” mean? 🤔 Special prize to the first to reply with the correct guess.

Kobe Bryant's Nike signature line has technically seen two prior retro releases, first with the late-2013 "Prelude Pack," and later with the "Fade to Black" pack celebrating his retirement. A retro line was also referenced by Demar Derozan to Sole Collector last year when he talked about an upcoming PE project that has yet to materialize.
