Before this weekend's return of the "Bred" Air Jordan 13, a sneaker customizer teamed up with Jordan Brand to give the shoe a luxurious makeover. Dominic Chambrone, better known as the Shoe Surgeon, held a private session at Jordan's South State St. store in Chicago where he went through the process of taking the shoes apart and putting them back together.

In a piece at the Jordan blog that briefly breaks down the process, Chambrone explains that this silhouette is one of the more challenging ones for customizers.

"This was probably one of the most difficult shoes I’ve done just because of all the detail already on the shoe—from the suede sole that could so easily be messed up, to the hologram, to the reflective fabric and the eyelets," he said. "There are shortcuts I can take on other shoes to make things slightly different, or change a detail that no one would normally see, but for the Air Jordan 13 the goal was to create it as closely as possible to the original."

His rendition of the shoe has Japanese fabric, perforated suede, and an exotic python upper.

According to Jordan Brand employee Dame Wrights, free pairs of the custom sneakers will be hidden in select cities this weekend to celebrate the launch of the the black/red Jordan 13s. Footaction also has some sparse info here about how to get one of the python pairs, although it's unclear if that giveaway is the same one referenced by Wrights.

The standard version of this Air Jordan 13 colorway will be available on Saturday, Aug. 19, for $190.
