Nike debuted its newest footwear innovation on Tuesday, a new type of foam that it's calling Nike React. This new piece of technology will be available first to consumers via basketball footwear in the React Hyperdunk 2017 Flyknit and the Jordan Super.Fly 2017, releasing on Aug. 3 for $160 and $140, respectively.

Nike's big selling point on React is that it achieves a rare trifecta of being lightweight, resilient, and durable. The brand says this new foam is vastly different from EVA cushioning systems that have long dominated the sneaker world, and calls it part of its "cushioning revolution" along with the VaporMax and upcoming ZoomX cushioning.

According to Nike, React was born of over 2,000 hours of wear-testing specifically for basketball and offers greater energy return than any of its other foams used in basketball sneakers.

The Nike React cushioning already has some championship pedigree to it, Warriors power forward Draymond Green having worn the React Hyperdunk 2017 Flyknit during Golden State's championship run in the 2017 NBA Finals.
