One of the interesting takeaways from Y3's Paris Fashion Week runway show was the quiet debut of Y3 Futurecraft 4D sneakers.
A technology currently limited to friends and family of the brand, Futurecraft 4D is a process that crafts midsoles using light and oxygen—or Digital Light Synthesis. Adidas plans to roll out an additional 5,000 pairs of Futurecraft 4D sneakers this Fall/Winter, before expanding to 100,000 in 2018.
The Y3 sneaker pairs a roped, open-hole mesh upper with a Futurecraft 4D sole, similar to the tooling used on the pairs slated to drop this year. Thus far, there's no information on a potential release, but Y3's tendency to integrate Adidas' top technology into its product makes an eventual drop likely.
