Miniwiz CEO Arthur Huang believes Nike Air is the perfect balance of performance and sustainability: “It cushions while at the same time reducing material usage.”
With that principle in mind and NikeLab collaboration on the horizon, Huang developed a lightweight shoe box made of post-consumer materials like milk and orange juice containers and coffee lids. The box, which features an interlocking, stackable design, is produced from a single process Polypropylene with no added chemicals.
“These are all intentional features and qualities which revolve around the intent of every Miniwiz product — reducing the impact on the environment in every way it can,” said Huang. “In this case, we’re adding features and efficiency to an existing product (shoe boxes) and by re-using non-virgin materials in a sustainable and responsible way.”
The box will accompany another sustainable product from Nike — the Air Max 1 Royal, which features Flyknit construction. An extension of the concept's creativity, the box doubles as a wearable backpack.
The NikeLab Air Max 1 Royal will release this Sunday, March 26 in Greater China, including at Invincible in Taipai City, Taiwan, and April 13 globally.
