Long before today's crop of influencers and celebrities were getting sent product by sportswear brands, Elton John was getting one-offs from early Nike employee Geoff Hollister in the 1970s. Resurrecting that relationship, Nike's created a new sneaker for the legendary singer in this Air Force 1.

The shoe, called the "Jet" Nike Air Force 1, is an extension of Nike's Be True campaign inspired by the LGBT community. The tongue reads "BETRUE" and features a rainbow Swoosh while the outsole border's gradient reflects color choices from the collection.

The shiny metallic upper references a knight's armor—a nod to Sir Elton's own knighting—and a disco ball.

The shoes are interesting from a production standpoint in that they were designed and produced entirely at Nike's world headquarters in Oregon. Nike gifted John with this Air Force 1 during his March 4 concert in Eugene, Oregon.
