When they met following a game between the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers almost exactly a year ago, Kobe Bryant gave Devin Booker a signed pair of sneakers. The inscription simply read: "To Book: Be Legendary." Heeding the advice of his idol, Booker did just that against the Boston Celtics earlier tonight.

One of the NBA's preeminent young stars, Booker shot his way into the record books with a jaw-dropping 70-point performance at TD Garden. He connected on 21 of 40 shots, along with 24 of 26 free throws to hit the mark. At just 20 years old, Booker is the youngest player in history to score both 60 and 70 points in a game.

Haters gon' say the Suns lost 130-120, and they did, but it's 70 points. The list of other players to hit that milestone: Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor and David Robinson. That's it. Noticeably absent from that group are Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal, Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and a plethora of other elite scorers.

Booker dropped 70 in a Player Exclusive colorway of the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Low — unfortunately not the Zoom Rev 2017 PE that fans can buy right now. Perhaps after tonight's performance, someone should make the call to rush a few pairs of the Hyperdunk to production.

A night to remember.
