The latest act of political resistance via sportswear comes not from a billion-dollar brand but from an individual long associated with sneaker culture. Director Spike Lee, a man who helped get the Air Jordan line off the ground with his appearance as Mars Blackmon in early campaigns for the shoes, shared a custom pair of Jordan 1s with anti-Trump messages on his Instagram on Thursday.

The shoes, a pair of "Black History Month" Air Jordan 1s, are decorated with the words "RESIST" and "REPEL AGENT ORANGE," the latter referencing a nickname for President Trump recently coined by Busta Rhymes. Note the jumbo text on the shoes is a custom touch—this pair doesn't come like this at retail.

Lee's caption on the photo underlines the message with references to his films.
