The momentum Adidas closed out 2016 with continues into the new year.
According to Matt Powell's latest NPD Group market breakdown, Adidas footwear sales more than doubled in January, while Nike's grew in the mid-single digits and Under Armour posted a 25 percent loss. Additionally, overall running shoe sales were down 3 percent, but Adidas was the only brand to post a January increase. The Ultra Boost, NMD and AlphaBounce have helped fuel the company's recent market surge.
This news follows another exciting week for Adidas Running, which launched a women's-only version of the Ultra Boost and partnered with retailer KITH for a women's running event in Miami.
