When he was 14 years old, James Harden promised his mother in a note that he would be famous one day. "Keep this paper. Imma be a star," a young Harden wrote, according a profile at ESPN.
That promise inspires this new version of his first signature shoe, the Adidas Harden Vol. 1. The sneaker has a celebratory black and gold look that gets away from the blocked-toe approach seen on colorways so far.
The Adidas Harden Vol. 1 "Imma Be a Star" was on display this week at Foot Locker's Week of Greatness event in New York City. The shoe is set to release on Nov. 23.
