Adidas pushes its Futurecraft program forward today with the unveil of the Adidas Futurecraft Biofabric, a prototype model made from biodegradable materials. Fittingly, the brand debuted the sneaker at the Biofabricate Conference in New York City.

"This concept represents premium innovation. By using Biosteel fibers in our products, we achieved an unrivaled level of sustainability," said James Carnes, VP of strategy creation at Adidas, via press release. "We are moving beyond closed loop and into an infinite loop—or even no loop at all. This is a pioneering stride forward beyond sustainability into a new territory of bionic innovation."

Unfortunately, like many Futurecraft designs, this model is more a concept car than a retail offering. But, Adidas says in its press release introducing the sneaker that it's partnering with manufacturer AMSilk to explore possibilities around making pairs like this available on a larger scale.
