Sneakers Designed by an Airline Are as Awful as You'd Expect

Why?

Is there any world in which having an airline design a pair of sneakers is a good idea? Proving just how bad the results are bound to be is this strange creation made by the likes of Virgin America, Eleven Inc., and SearchnDesign.

Billed as the Virgin America First Class Shoe, the design features a seat buckle, mood lighting, a video display on the midfoot strap, a WiFi-enabled hotspot, and other weird bells and whistles that make little sense on a pair of shoes.

Here's the good news: it sounds like there is only one pair of these of sneakers in the world. Anyone who wants to buy them and burn them (and raise some money for charity in the process) can check out the auction for the shoes here.

We suggest sticking to Air Force 1s.
