This honor of designing this year's Doernbecher Air Jordan goes to 10-year old Damien Phillips, who worked his magic on the Air Jordan 7.
Battling his way through a hemophilia diagnosis, Phillips has shown courage at hemophilia camp, where he earned the Big Stick Award after learning to administer his own infusions. An avid fan of the Chicago Bulls, Phillips was thrilled to learn about his opportunity to design the Jordan 7, splashing the shoe with the Bulls' famous black and red color scheme. Rock 'n Roll accents like a guitar pick on the laces and a heel tab resembling a guitar neck represent his passion for music and ability to jam on a guitar. The outsole even features an animated graphic of the youngster playing a power solo.
Phillips' Doernbecher Air Jordan 7 Retro, and matching apparel, is currently set to release on Saturday, Dec. 17 at Nike SNKRS.
