This weekend is a big one for Steph Curry and Under Armour, who will test the superstar's ability to sell sneakers in the lifestyle market with the new Curry Lux line. While it's a safe assumption that a good number of the Curry sneakers sold already are used for lifestyle purposes given how rarely performance shoes across the board are actually worn for their intended sport, this group marks the first time the brand is making Curry shoes specifically intended for off-court wear.
The Under Armour Curry Lux takes Stephen Curry's first signature shoe, the Under Armour Curry 1, and rebuilds it with premium materials. This initial pack splits its time between smooth leather and buttery suede, with colorways mostly going tonal. The batch consists of five shoes: four Under Armour Curry Lux Mids ($150) and one Low ($140).
Leading the launch on this collection is Concepts in New York City, which will release all five pairs on Friday, Aug. 5. Following the Concepts launch, additional retailers across the U.S. (listed below) will release the shoes on Aug. 6. Note that quantities on the sneakers are limited, with 600 pairs total of each colorway produced.
