Little did the sneaker world know it during All-Star Weekend in 2004, but an artist who released their debut album earlier that week would go on to have one of the most influential modern signature lines today. While The College Dropout may have set the musical mood that weekend, Kanye West’s fashion influence would have to wait (and for that matter, evolve), because the day was still owned by the likes of Allen Iverson, who brought his era-defining style to the league in the mid-‘90s.

Iverson came in to L.A.’s All-Star Game in fifth-place overall in fan voting, proving his lasting impact, despite entering the early stages of his on-court decline. Three years removed from being awarded MVP and leading the 76ers to his one and only NBA Finals appearance, Iverson may not have been at the very peak of his career, but his style game was never better—nor did it ever change much.
