It turns out the "Wings" Jordan 12 was a charity release after all—Jordan Brand announced today that it will donate proceeds from the limited shoes to its WINGS initiative.

WINGS partners with communities across the globe to promote youth education. Jordan Brand President Larry Miller is confident that the sale of these shoes will help the organization with this goal.

"The WINGS program continues to focus on education and empowering kids around the world," he said, via press release. "The funds raised by the sale of the AJ XII 'WINGS' will allow us to continue this mission and fund programs that encourage kids to reach their greatness."

The "Wings" Jordan 12 was limited to just 12,000 and is now fetching over $1,000 on the resell market.
